From a Job to Successful Freelance Career : The Story of Mohammad Akif

Hello! My name is Mohammad Akif, and I come from a small town called Qasba Gujrat in the Muzaffargarh district of Pakistan. Today, I want to share my journey of how I transitioned from working at a software house in Lahore to becoming a successful freelancer and team member at a digital agency. Beginning My Career at a Software House

Back in 2022, I was working at a software house in Lahore as a designer. While it was a good experience and helped me understand the basics of design work, I felt something was missing. My career seemed limited to the tasks I was assigned at work, and I wanted to grow beyond that. I had always been passionate about exploring new opportunities and becoming more independent. However, I didn’t know where to start or how to move forward.

One day, my brother suggested I consider joining Bright With Us, an organization in Faisalabad that provided training in various digital skills like freelancing, video editing, graphic design, and web development. At first, I wasn’t sure if this was the right path for me, but after hearing about their success stories and the opportunities they offered, I decided to take a leap of faith.

In 2022, I joined Bright With Us in Faisalabad. From the moment I stepped into the institute, I felt a sense of hope and determination. The trainers, led by Sir Habib Rehman, were incredibly supportive. They didn’t just teach technical skills they also focused on building confidence and communication skills, which I realized were just as important as the technical aspects of freelancing.

The training program was intensive, and I dedicated myself to learning everything I could. I started with Fiverr, a freelancing platform where professionals offer services to clients worldwide. The trainers guided us step by step, from creating a profile to offering our first gig. They explained how to stand out in a competitive market and provided tips on delivering exceptional services.

My First Order on Fiverr: The Start of Something New

After weeks of learning and preparing, I finally got my first order on Fiverr. It was a small project, but it meant the world to me. I still remember the excitement and sense of achievement I felt. That first order was the push I needed to believe in myself and realize that freelancing could truly change my life.

From that moment on, I focused on improving my skills and taking on more projects. The training at Bright With Us taught me the importance of continuous learning. I didn’t stop at graphic design; I began exploring other skills like video editing and WordPress development. Each new skill added value to the services I could offer and helped me grow as a professional.

Expanding My Horizons: Joining a Team

In 2023, after gaining significant experience and confidence, I decided it was time to take the next step in my career. I left Bright With Us to join a digital agency called Ask Solution Agency under the leadership of Mohammad Shahid. This was a new chapter for me, as I now had the opportunity to work with a team of talented individuals.

At Ask Solution Agency, we offered various services, including graphic design, video editing, web development, and more. Working in a team environment taught me the importance of collaboration and communication. I was no longer working alone; I was part of a group that shared the same goals and vision. Together, we tackled projects, learned from each other, and supported one another in our professional journeys.

Balancing Work and Education

While I was busy growing my career, I also decided to continue my education. I am currently pursuing an MS in Computer Science, which allows me to deepen my knowledge and explore new areas of technology. Balancing work and studies is challenging, but I believe it is essential for personal and professional growth.

Education has always been a priority for me, and I see it as a way to open more doors in the future. My experience at Bright With Us taught me how to manage my time effectively and stay focused on my goals, which has been incredibly helpful in balancing these responsibilities.
